The story of Echoes Through Time begins in 1977 with a fourteen-year-old boy at Madison Square Garden, swept into a world he hadn’t known music could create. As Pink Floyd played, the boundaries of the arena seemed to dissolve. Sound became a place to inhabit—vast, mysterious, sometimes unsettling, and achingly beautiful. That night changed the way he listened, felt, and imagined what music could be. Its resonance would remain with him long after the final notes faded.

In the decades that followed, Ben played in various musical projects, performing covers and originals, but Pink Floyd remained something apart. Most rock songs could be learned by working out the chords, melodies, and arrangements. Floyd was different. Play the right chords and sing the right words, and somehow you could still be nowhere near the music. Its identity lived as much in the sounds between the notes—the tones, textures, effects, dynamics, and layers of instrumentation that created its unmistakable atmosphere. Reproducing it meant going far beyond learning the songs. It meant deconstructing them.

Eventually, Ben realized that returning to the music that had first captivated him would require something different from a conventional cover band. He needed musicians who shared not only a love of Pink Floyd, but a willingness to obsess over it: to experiment with instruments and technology, to disappear down rabbit holes, debate the smallest sonic details, and painstakingly reconstruct what made each song feel like Floyd. With a now-or-never resolve, he began assembling that community of like-minded musical obsessives. Echoes Through Time was born.

One particularly fortunate encounter brought saxophonist Jenny Hill into the fold. An accomplished artist whose credits include Gov’t Mule and the Easy Star All-Stars, Jenny already had her own history of exploring Floyd’s musical universe: she contributed to Dub Side of the Moon, the Easy Star All-Stars’ reggae and dub reimagining of The Dark Side of the Moon. Bringing that experience and her expressive playing to Dick Parry’s iconic saxophone parts, she helped the band’s vision reach further.

That vision is at the heart of Echoes Through Time: to make each performance a journey through the tension, tenderness, and breathtaking expanses of Pink Floyd’s music. Somewhere in that journey, the feeling that first caught hold of a fourteen-year-old at Madison Square Garden still reverberates—and perhaps finds its way to someone in the audience discovering it for the first time.
